Hi, I’m Becky Babek. I’m a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, licensed behavior analyst, former elementary and special education teacher, parent, and owner of Behave Yourself LLC.
I have worked with children, young adults, and adults across homes, schools, clinics, early-intervention services, and community settings. My experience includes early childhood, elementary and middle school, transition-age services, caregiver support, staff supervision, and clinical leadership.
My Path to Behavior Analysis
I began my career as a third-grade teacher after graduating from Central Connecticut State University in 2008. I later became a special education teacher and spent five years working with students with autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, emotional and behavioral disabilities, learning disabilities, and other support needs.
My classroom used ABA-based teaching, and I worked closely with BCBAs, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and related-service providers. I developed individualized goals, assessed student progress, supervised instructional assistants, and supported students in both specialized and general-education settings.
One of the most important lessons I carried from teaching was to watch the learner as closely as the lesson plan. When a student was not learning, I needed to examine the task, the instructions, the environment, the available support, and my own teaching. That way of thinking eventually led me to formal training in behavior analysis.
I completed my behavior-analytic coursework through the University of Massachusetts Lowell and became a BCBA in August 2019.
Why I Founded Behave Yourself
I founded Behave Yourself LLC in October 2020, while COVID-19 was disrupting schools, services, routines, and family life. I kept asking myself how I could use my education and experience to help people during such an uncertain time.
The practice began simply and has grown carefully. As I gained experience in home-based services, clinics, early intervention, staff supervision, and clinical leadership, I became clearer about the kind of practice I wanted to build.
I wanted families to know the clinician responsible for their child’s treatment. I wanted enough direct involvement to recognize when a program needed to change. I also wanted RBTs to receive clear guidance and meaningful support from their BCBA.

A Little About How I Work
I am naturally thorough. I ask questions, examine patterns, and want to understand why something is happening before deciding what to do about it. I also believe it is important to admit when an idea needs to be revised. A plan that seemed reasonable at first may need to change after we see how it works for the actual person.
My background as a teacher continues to influence me. I think about whether the person understands what is being asked, whether we have taught the necessary steps, whether the support matches the learner, and whether the skill will be useful outside the session.
As a parent myself, I also understand that family life is busy and imperfect. Recommendations need to fit within real routines, schedules, relationships, and responsibilities. Families can expect me to communicate directly, explain my reasoning, listen carefully, and remain involved.
