In Avon, CT there is a place called “Cuts for Peanuts.” It offers private appointments, additional time, breaks, adaptable seating, quiet tools, and individualized sensory-friendly haircuts. (I haven’t been there personally, but I have heard about it!)
If you call your local hair stylist for your haircut-sensitive child, ask them if they can offer:
- The first (or last) appointment of the day
- A quiet/private space
- Scissor-only cuts or quiet clippers
- A longer appointment with breaks
- Parent-lap sitting
- A practice visit before the haircut
- Flexibility with using the capes, spray bottles, hair dryers, etc.
