Sensory-friendly haircut resources

In Avon, CT there is a place called “Cuts for Peanuts.” It offers private appointments, additional time, breaks, adaptable seating, quiet tools, and individualized sensory-friendly haircuts. (I haven’t been there personally, but I have heard about it!)

If you call your local hair stylist for your haircut-sensitive child, ask them if they can offer:

  • The first (or last) appointment of the day
  • A quiet/private space
  • Scissor-only cuts or quiet clippers
  • A longer appointment with breaks
  • Parent-lap sitting
  • A practice visit before the haircut
  • Flexibility with using the capes, spray bottles, hair dryers, etc.
